Rina says: “Sandwell Council is an amazing place to work where I can make a real difference to local people”

How does a normal day start?

My day starts with a cup of coffee before going through urgent emails that require my attention.  I normally have meetings booked in advance so ensuring I am prepared for these is a priority.

Why did you join Sandwell Council?

Moving to Sandwell Council was a career progression which enabled me to utilise my skills and experience gained over the last 18 years.  The flexibility of working from home and office was a bonus which would help balance my work/home life.

What is your role?

Towns Fund Programme Manager – in essence managing £67.5m of government funding!

What do you do in your role?

I manage 16 projects to ensure that they deliver projects in Sandwell to a total value of £67.5m before March 2026.

What’s been your most memorable moment so far?

Visiting award evenings where residents benefit from the training delivered with the support of funding.  It always amazes me to see a customer journey from challenges residents face and overcome to enhance their skills and better their job prospects.

What would you be doing if you didn’t work here?

If I wasn’t working at Sandwell Council, I would still be working in the regeneration field as this is where my passion lies in helping develop communities making them a better place to live and work.

What advice would you give someone considering a career with Sandwell Council?

For me, Sandwell Council has created an environment that promotes diversity and inclusivity and a healthy work life balance, with a range of benefits to suit individual lifestyles.  In a short space of time, I have benefitted from professional development and training opportunities to further develop my knowledge.
