Semi-detached new-build bungalows with stone-effect window frames and charcoal grey front doors.

On Church Hill Street in Smethwick, we have worked with building contractor Harper Construction to develop twenty new homes: fifteen traditionally built houses and five bungalows, all for affordable rent. Two of these properties are fully wheelchair compliant.

Urban Design and Building Services (UDBS) had a significant role in bringing the properties to completion, with our architects, landscape architects, quantity surveyors and structural engineers involved in the project.

UDBS’ design approach included incorporating a mix of red and grey bricks, along with stone-effect windowsills and heads, in keeping with the character of properties in nearby Vicarage Road.

The Housing Partnerships Team at Sandwell Council was our client and the development was funded through government Retained Right to Buy receipts.

These two- and four-bedroom homes are now fully occupied.
