Built in the late Georgian period, Highfields House in West Bromwich is a three-storey Grade II-listed building with beautiful stuccoed brick and sash windows. Today it is used as the register office for Sandwell Council, which means all births and deaths in Sandwell are registered there. Highfields House also carries out weddings and civil partnerships in three different marriage suites.
In 2023 Urban Design and Building Services oversaw the planned replacement of inefficient gas-fired boilers and the associated heating plant at Highfields House.
The new gas-fired modulating condensing boilers are more energy efficient, reducing fuel costs and the environmental impact of Highfields House. A new optimiser/compensation controller senses changes in outside temperature, further enhancing the building’s energy efficiency as well as boosting comfort levels for people who are either working in the building, or visiting.
Dodd Group Ltd was our contractor for this project, under a direct access framework arrangement with Sandwell Council.
