About the roles
Strategy and Development Manager (Grade I)
The Role
As we prepare for the implementation of Alternate Weekly Waste Collections (AWC) in September 2025, we are seeking an experienced Strategy and Development Manager to lead on waste minimisation and recycling strategies. This role is critical in ensuring the Council remains compliant with evolving waste regulations while driving efficiency and sustainability in our waste management services.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement strategic waste minimisation and recycling initiatives to align with national and local sustainability goals.
- Interpret and respond to new waste legislation, ensuring the Council remains fully compliant with statutory requirements.
- Oversee funding applications to secure financial support for waste and recycling initiatives.
- Drive efficiency savings in waste disposal, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable waste management.
- Develop initiatives to safeguard Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) payments, ensuring the Council maximises funding opportunities.
Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer (Grade G)
The Role
We are looking for a proactive Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer to support this transition and drive community engagement. In this role, you will:
- Develop and manage community engagement campaigns to increase recycling rates and minimise waste.
- Lead outreach efforts with residents, community groups, and schools to improve public understanding of recycling practices.
- Design and implement waste education initiatives, ensuring residents are fully informed about changes to waste collection services.
- Manage digital engagement, including the Council’s website and sustainability hub, to provide clear and accessible waste management information.
- Monitor and evaluate campaign effectiveness, providing data-driven recommendations for ongoing improvement.
- Manage a team of Recycling Support Officers
Technical Performance and Data Officer (Grade F)
The Role
We are seeking a Technical Performance and Data Officer to play a critical role in monitoring and improving waste management services. In this role, you will:
- Collect, analyse, and interpret performance data to track the efficiency of waste collection services.
- Produce detailed reports for internal and external monitoring, ensuring compliance with performance benchmarks.
- Identify trends and insights to support service improvements and contractor performance management.
- Ensure data-driven decision-making, optimising waste collection processes and reducing inefficiencies.
- Provide statistical analysis to support strategic planning and policy development in waste management
Performance Officer (Grade F)
The Role
We are looking for a Performance Officer to ensure the effective monitoring and management of our waste and cleansing contracts. This role is key to ensuring service compliance, tracking contractor performance, and driving service improvements through data-led decision-making.
In this role, you will:
- Monitor the performance of waste and cleansing contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed service levels.
- Manage performance data and reporting, providing insights to improve service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with performance benchmarks, identifying areas for improvement.
- Support data-driven decision-making, helping to optimise waste collection processes.
- Liaise with contractors, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met and any issues are addressed proactively
Recycling Support Officer (Grade E)
The Role
We are seeking 6 dedicated Recycling Support Officers to engage directly with residents, initially ensuring a smooth transition to the new waste collection system. In this role, you will:
- Work on-site in communities, providing face-to-face support and guidance on recycling practices.
- Educate residents on correct waste disposal to minimise contamination and improve recycling rates.
- Monitor and report on waste collection issues, identifying areas for improvement.
- Support the rollout of government-driven waste management changes, ensuring compliance with new regulations.
- Act as the first point of contact for waste-related enquiries, helping to resolve concerns and reduce complaints
