Ordnance Survey maps
Our Ordnance Survey map collection of Sandwell dates from the first edition, in the 1880s, to the more recent National Grid series, and comes in a variety of large and smaller scales.
Pre-Ordnance Survey maps
Our earliest original map dates to 1774 and we our other early maps include:
- copies of tithe and parish maps from the late 1700s to mid-1800s
- large scale public health maps from the mid-1800s
- estate and enclosure maps
Mining maps
We have a large collection of mining and colliery plans showing mine workings in the area.
Building plans
We have building registers, notices and accompanying plans for the borough of West Bromwich which date from the 1850s to the 1930s, the catalogue can be viewed online. We also hold plans of public buildings, pubs, drainage and sewage for other boroughs in Sandwell.
