Sandwell Council, in collaboration with waste partner Serco, proudly supports local environmental charity Litter Watch to provide free environmental education to schools and community groups throughout Sandwell.
Building on the success of their 14-year partnership, Litter Watch have unveiled a fresh new workshop series set to launch in September 2024. Litter Watch will be calling upon their four Sandwell superhero bin characters, aimed at encouraging children to waste less and recycle more.
These engaging workshops offer a blend of fun, interactivity, and education, enabling young people and the local community to understand their environmental responsibilities.
The free innovative workshops cater to Foundation stage, KS1, KS2, and KS3 pupils, emphasising the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling, as well as well as caring for the local area and the wider environment.
Aligned with the curriculum, the 'eco-workshops' delve into themes such as recycling, composting, litter management, food waste, consumption habits, and upcycling. The programme seamlessly integrates with subjects such as Science, English, Maths, Geography, Citizenship, Music, and Art & Design. Crafted to be educational, interactive, and enjoyable, the workshops support various 'Eco Schools' topics, including litter management, waste reduction, school environment enhancement, and global citizenship initiatives.
