Overfull or overweight bins
Overfull bins
Overfull bins where the lid cannot be closed will not be emptied and the collection crew will leave a sticker/tag on the bin indicating the problem and report the issue on the waste collection software. The resident will need to take action to remedy the problem and wait until the next scheduled collection.
Overweight bins
Overweight bins will not be emptied and the collection crew will leave a sticker/tag on the bin indicating the problem and report the issue on the waste collection software. The resident will need to take action to remedy the problem and wait until the next scheduled collection.
A bin will be determined to be overweight if either the bin exceeds the vehicle bin lift equipment weight limit or the collection operative is unable to safely move the bin to the vehicle. The latter can be affected by local circumstances such as the presence of step(s) or slope or other physical or topographical issues.
Compacted waste
Sometimes waste in a bin will not dislodge from a bin. If the collection operative is aware that a bin cannot be emptied out completely they will operate the bin lifting mechanism a second time to see if it will empty the bin. Where this does not work the householder will need to loosen the material themselves ready for the next scheduled collection.
In this instance the collection crew will leave a sticker/tag on the bin indicating the problem and record the reason on the waste collection software. The resident will need to take action to remedy the problem and wait until the next scheduled collection.
