On collection day:
- Leave your bins out at the edge of your property by 6.45am during the winter, 5.30am during the summer.
- Make sure all rubbish and recycling is inside bins and that the bin lids are closed.
- Don’t bag up recycling in your blue lid bin, just put it in loose and to get more in, flatten or squash your recycling items.
- Extra recycling should be temporarily bagged and stored until you can empty it into your blue lid bin.
- Park considerately on your street so that our lorries can access your street to empty your bins.
If your bin collection is delayed
Extra recycling can be temporarily bagged and stored in places such as outbuildings/garages or the garden waste bin (recycling would have to be un-bagged before putting into blue lid bin). Use our recycling guide to check that you are recycling all that you can in your blue lid bin. Please make sure all recycling is inside the bin and that the bin lid is closed.
Private waste removal
If you have undertaken a large clear out or home works, you may think of arranging private waste removal. Before you pay anyone to take rubbish away you must first check they have a Waste Carriers Licence.
Advice on finding licensed/registered waste carriers and reporting fly-tipping. You can check this with the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506.
Burning rubbish/bonfires
Please be considerate to others and do not burn rubbish in your gardens. Garden fires are dangerous and can get out of control. We can't take action over occasional bonfires, only bonfires that are a regular nuisance. You can report an ongoing bonfire problem.
