How we deal with your complaint

The authority responds to all such complaints by generally first making contact with the complainant to ascertain details. We will then contact the process operator and carry out an inspection if necessary. We may check process monitoring records for emission data and agree a course of preventative action if needed. Many complaints are not specific enough to identify specific processes. This can lead to a wider investigation and may involve the Environment Agency to pinpoint the source.

If you are concerned about a proposed industrial development or existing industry then contact the council to see if a Permit is required. If it is, has it been submitted? You can check the public register.
