Garage FAQs
How do I apply? Log onto MySandwell and complete the Garage tenancy application form selecting which areas you are interested in.
Who can apply? Any person aged 18 or over may apply for a garage.
How is an offer made? Garages are allocated in date order from the waiting list. However, elderly/disabled applicants or their carers, victims of race or hate crimes or people who may need a garage in the same or another area on the recommendation of the Police will receive a high priority.
An offer will not be made to anyone who has current or former rent arrears.
You will have 5 working days to accept the garage.
Can I refuse an offer? Yes, you can refuse up to 3 offers. If you fail to respond or refuse 3 offers, then your application will be cancelled.
If you require a garage in the future, following your application being cancelled, a new application will need to be made.
How can I pay? If you live in a Sandwell Council property you can pay your rent by Direct Debit, by telephone on 0300 456 0514 or online.
What happens if I can't pay the rent? If you are unable to maintain payments for your garage you should contact us to discuss your circumstances. If we receive non-payment for your garage, a Notice to Quit will be served, the tenancy will end following the expiry of the notice and the garage locks will be changed.
What if my circumstances change? If your circumstance change such as changing your name or your address, please inform us immediately so the relevant adjustments and changes can be made.
We will confirm the changes in writing to you and if there is a change of name you will be issued with a new invoice if you pay VAT.
