Summary of services
Speakability Association Sandwell supports people affected by aphasia and their families, and promotes 'aphasia awareness'. Aphasia is a language impairment, which can affect many aspects of communication including speech, writing, and reading. It happens as result of brain damage, caused by strokes, head injuries and other illnesses. The group is now entirely user led, with a real self-help ethos. Speech therapists come along to meetings to introduce new members, and our new starters come to the group as part of their induction. Monthly meetings include lunch and tea or coffee.
