Name that bin lorry

Welcome to our exciting community competition. We’re inviting young children in Sandwell to help us name twelve brand-new recycling collection vehicles. This is your families chance to get creative and put your stamp on vehicles that will serve the borough for years to come.

Who can participate

Children aged between 4 and 12 years old may submit one name each.

Competition dates

Submit your name suggestions between 16 and 31 July 2024.

How to enter

  1. Think of a creative name for a bin lorry: It can be anything that reflects the spirit of our community, environmental themes, or just something fun and catchy!
  2. Submit your entry: Complete the submission form with your child’s suggested bin lorry name, their name, age, and a parent or guardians contact details.
  3. Share the fun: Let your friends and family know about the competition and encourage them to participate too! And why not colour in our downloadable poster to stick on your blue-lid bin so our bin crews know you’ve taken part?

Judging process

After the competition closes on 31 July, a panel of representatives from the waste partnership will review all the entries. Winners will be announced in August on our website and social media channels as well as being contacted directly.

Prizes

The winning names will be featured on our new recycling collection vehicles, and the winners will be invited to Serco’s waste depot to see the vehicles up close. They will also get to be stars in our new recycling campaign, educating the community via videos and photos. This is a fantastic opportunity to see your child’s creativity celebrated in a big way.
