We are thrilled to announce the 12 winners names from our "Name That Bin Lorry" competition! A BIG THANK YOU to all the children who participated and shared their fantastic and creative ideas. The winning names have been selected and will be proudly displayed on our brand new fleet of recycling collection vehicles. In instances where a name was suggested more than once, the entry received first has been selected.

Prizes:
The winning names will be featured on our 12 new recycling collection vehicles, and the winners will be invited to Serco’s waste depot to see the vehicles up close. They will also have the chance to be stars in our new recycling campaign, educating the community via videos and photos throughout the year. More information will be provided about this on the day. We hope it’ll be a memorable afternoon filled with fun and recognition for our young naming champions.

Terms and conditions

  1. The competition is open to all young residents in Sandwell aged between 4 and 12 years old.
  2. Only one entry with one name suggestion per child.
  3. Entries must be submitted via the Name That Bin Lorry Microsoft Form and include an email address, daytime telephone number or postal address for the parent/carer of the child.
  4. The winning names will be selected during August by a panel consisting of stakeholders of the Serco Sandwell waste partnership.
  5. The prize is to have the winning name suggestions placed on 12 refuse collection vehicles, to be invited to visit the vehicle depot on a date chosen by Serco, as well as featuring in a new recycling campaign involving video and photographs. Please note that Serco cannot guarantee all vehicles named in the competition will be on site on the day of the visit. Visit date will be in August 2024 and is subject to change.
  6. By entering the competition, the parent/carer of the entrant is agreeing for the winner’s name and image to be used in promotion of the naming competition as well as a new recycling education campaign. This promotion can be digital and print media by Sandwell Council and Serco, as well as the possibility of coverage by local and potentially national media outlets.
  7. Should a winning name be submitted more than once, the entry received first will be the one to receive the prize.
  8. The prize is awarded conditionally upon acceptance. If the winner is unable to be contacted after 20 days or if any prize is unclaimed or declined within a reasonable period, the prize shall be deemed as unclaimed or unaccepted and a supplementary winner may be drawn at Sandwell Council’s and Serco’s discretion.
  9. Incomplete entries and entries received after the competition closing date will not be accepted.
  10. Entries not complying with these terms and conditions will be invalid.
  11. Entrants' data will be collected, stored and processed for the purposes of administering and assessing this competition. Serco Group Ltd shall take all reasonable care to ensure that it complies with its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Sandwell Council or Serco reserves the right to suspend, cancel, postpone or amend the competition and/or review and revise these terms and conditions.
