Sandwell Council’s Welfare Rights Team are available to help Sandwell residents claim the benefits that they are entitled to.

In the last year Welfare Rights have helped more than 12,500 residents claim almost £20million in benefits and backpay. This is the most residents helped in a single year.

Residents can contact the team via the Sandwell Council website.

The team can help residents of any age with benefit claims including Pension Credit, Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Universal Credit claims, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, Leader of Sandwell Council, said: “The Welfare Rights Team provide a vital service to Sandwell residents.

“This is money residents are entitled to and it’s good to see this money go straight into the pockets of those that most need help.

“It can make all the difference between struggling and making ends meet, especially in this cost of living crisis.”

For residents that aren’t able to access the internet, the Welfare Rights Team also offers a telephone service on 0121 569 3158 (Monday-Thursday 9.30am-4pm; Friday 9.30am-3.30pm)
