Sandwell entrepreneurs, are you ready to take the next step in starting your own business?

The Sandwell Council Business Growth Team is excited to announce an “Apprentice-style” program that offers budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to attend a support programme and win additional mentoring support. There will also be an opportunity to apply for a start-up grant (for eligible businesses).

The program is designed to encourage and support anyone who wishes to begin a business or make a career change. Even smaller businesses that have been trading for less than two years will qualify for the free support.

The program includes a series of funded local seminars, workshops and training events during February, with the Launch Event taking place on Wednesday 1 February at the National Manufacturing Centre (NMC) in West Bromwich.

This event will provide an overview of the program and the opportunity for participants to ask questions and get a better understanding of what the program has to offer.

Following the Launch Event, Business Planning workshops and other training events will take place every Wednesday in February at the NMC Venue.

These workshops and events will provide participants with the tools and knowledge they need to prepare their own Business Plans and make them more competitive.
The training will be delivered by specialist Black Country training and coaching organisation, Executive Training and Consultancy Limited, which has over 20 years of experience helping Sandwell-based businesses grow.

The final event, the Awards Event, will be held on Wednesday 1 March, where the panel of judges will deliver their verdicts on the plans and potentially award a grant investment and further mentoring.

It will be like the format of the popular TV show, The Apprentice, where the judges will be looking for the most innovative and well-planned business ideas.

Councillor Peter Hughes, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth said: “We are proud to be supporting start-up businesses in the Sandwell area. We are looking to provide help for up to 60 new businesses based in Oldbury, West Bromwich, Wednesbury, Tipton, Rowley Regis and Smethwick within the next month alone . So, I would encourage any budding entrepreneur, or fledgling, small business-owner to take advantage of this innovative new opportunity to change your life”.
