A special ‘thank you’ to the Armed Forces community is being held at Dartmouth Park in West Bromwich on Saturday 29 June.

Residents are invited to take part in Armed Forces Day, which is a chance to show support for all those who make up the Armed Forces community – from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.

Armed Forces Day 2024

It takes place on the last Saturday each June and is of particular meaning this year as it follows the 80th anniversary of D Day earlier this month. The day gives residents the opportunity to show their pride in our Armed Forces community and recognise the sacrifices made by those who are currently serving, or who have
served for our country, as well as their families.

A small parade will start at 10:50 at the Pavilion building in Dartmouth Park and make its way to the War Memorial. Residents and community organisations are welcome to join the end of the parade. Please arrive by 10.30am if you wish to join in. This will be followed by a short memorial service and a minute’s silence.

From 11am until 2.30pm there will be a host of family friendly stalls and activities together with Sovereign Brass Band and live local musical performers in keeping with Armed Forces Day.

The day will be attended by the Mayor of Sandwell and  a representative of the West Midlands Lieutenancy.

A limited amount of free parking is available at Dartmouth Park. Please arrive early to ensure you have a space.
