Sandwell’s SHAPE Youth Summer Fest is back for 2024, with the biggest selection of free activities ever!
Join in all the excitement this Saturday (13 July) from 12noon until 8pm, at Sandwell Valley Showground, West Bromwich (B71 4BG).
The event is FREE to enter and will feature a wide range of fun activities for children and young people. More than 100 services and partner organisations have joined forces with Sandwell Council’s SHAPE team to put on the festival, which has been running since 2015.
Activities include sports like cricket, zorb football, arts and crafts, Sandwell’s new Youth Bus, DESIBlitz Art Bus, the mobile library, a careers expo for 14-19s, a young traders’ fair, a health and wellbeing zone and much more!
Two stages will showcase live music and performances from DJs and bands and local, upcoming talent.
Meanwhile, The Albion Foundation has worked with SHAPE to bring back the ever-popular Blind Dave's Colour Run. You can watch participants who've signed up to the Colour Run running, jogging or leisurely walking past six colour stations where they will be doused from head to toe in bright colours! (Registration for the Colour Run has now closed).
Councillor Jackie Taylor, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Wellbeing, said: “I would encourage children, young people and their families to come along for a fabulous day filled with fun activities and lots of live performances. It’s a great opportunity to find out about services on offer and pick up health and wellbeing advice too. I would like to remind our young people that they are the future and that we are investing in them, their health and wellbeing for them to have a positive future.”
Councillor Jalal Uddin, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “The SHAPE Summer Youth Fest will be fun for everyone and is part of our ongoing work to support children, young people and their families. I want to thank everyone involved, including young people who have helped to plan the festival.”
