New consultation is underway in Smethwick!
Residents, community groups and local businesses are encouraged to help shape the future of the Smethwick area and share their views on how to improve the town by completing this important survey.
Due to delays relating to the recent General Election, the closing date for the survey has been extended until Sunday 28 July so that everyone can have their say.
Supported by Sandwell Council, the Smethwick Partnership Board is preparing a 10-year Long Term Plan for the town. The Board wants the Long-Term Plan to be driven by the priorities of local people, so by sharing your views in this short survey you will be helping to shape Smethwick’s future.
The Long Term Plan focuses on three themes: Safety & Security; High Streets, Heritage, and Regeneration; and Transport and Connectivity.
There’s still time to have your say or register your interest in getting involved, and to influence how at least £20m of Government funding should be spent in Smethwick. All completed survey responses will be collated for inclusion in the Investment Plan to be submitted to the Government.
Councillor Peter Hughes, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Infrastructure, said:
“Smethwick already has a great future, but we want to make it even better. To do this we need to listen to the views of local residents, community groups and business to ensure that any plans reflect what people really want and need.
“I would encourage anyone who wants to make Smethwick an even better place in which to live and work to go to complete this quick survey.”
The survey can be accessed online and paper copies of the survey are available at Smethwick Library and Thimblemill Library.
The project is funded through the Government-supported Long Term Plan for Smethwick.
