As Sandwell celebrates 50 years, a free exhibition is touring Sandwell Libraries over the coming weeks.

The free exhibition launched on Friday (19 July) at Central Library, West Bromwich, which runs until this Thursday (25 July) and will then move to other towns across Sandwell.

Sandwell Council Leader, Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, said: “Sandwell has a rich history and we have a lot to be proud of, with diverse communities and six towns each with their own identities.

“As Sandwell celebrates 50 years, I want as many residents as possible to join us in celebrating the people and places that made Sandwell the borough it is today.”

After visiting Central Library, the exhibition will then travel to the following libraries:
•    Tipton Library (Friday 26 July – Thursday 1 August)
•    Wednesbury Library (Friday 2 August – Thursday 8 August)
•    Oldbury Library (Friday 9 August – Thursday 15 August)
•    Blackheath Library (Friday 13 September – Thursday 19 September)
•    Smethwick Library (Friday 20 September – Thursday 26 September)

On each of the Fridays, starting at 11am, there will be a talk about the exhibition, as well as the opportunity to view some fascinating archive material from the Sandwell Community History and Archives Service.
