Pay by Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the best way to pay your Council Tax.
MySandwell is an online platform for accessing different council services.
Opening an account is easy – we just need to take your name, address and contact details. The link below will take you to our Direct Debit page via MySandwell.
If you don’t yet have a Council Tax account number then you will need to set up your Council Tax account online using our Online Move Form before you try to set up a Direct Debit.

Amend an existing Direct Debit
Please note that we expect all of your instalments to be paid up to date at the time you complete this form. If any payments are outstanding you may receive a revised bill or further recovery action may be taken.
You can choose to pay on the 5th, 15th or 28th of the month and you can choose to pay in either 10 or 12 monthly instalments.
You can also set up a payment arrangement if you are unable to meet your instalments.
If you have received a court summons or liability order and wish to make an arrangement to pay please fill in our special arrangement form to make an arrangement to pay the debt.
If you already pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit and you have not cancelled your instruction your payments will continue to be collected each year. There is no requirement for the direct debit instruction to be set up each year.

You can also pay your Council Tax on the web with your Visa, MasterCard, Solo, Visa Delta, Visa Electron or Maestro cards.
Other ways to pay
You can also pay over the telephone, in person or by standing order.
You can pay by cash, cheque, credit or debit card at your Local Post Office making cheques payable to Post Office Counters Ltd. You can also pay at your local Paypoint outlet by cash or card. Please make sure you have your Council Tax bill with you.
How much Council Tax do I owe?
You can check your Council Tax balance by going to our online payment page, entering your Council Tax reference number (the 8 digit number beginning with a 7 or 8 from your bill) then clicking on 'How much do I owe?'.
Your instalments
Your Council Tax is normally payable in ten monthly instalments, starting on 1 April each year.
You can also pay your Council Tax over 12 instalments. If you would like to do this, please contact us or write to us at Sandwell Council (Benefits and Council Tax), PO Box 10597, Nottingham NG6 6DQ.
Please note that the number of instalments you pay will depend on when you register to extend your payments.
