Freight Quality Partnerships

Freight Quality Partnerships are a means for local government, businesses, freight operators, environmental groups, the local community and other interested stakeholders to work together to address specific freight transport problems.

The objective of the forum is to ensure cross-boundary co-ordination to achieve sustainable distribution and best practice in an economic, environmental, safe and efficient context. Making freight flows more efficient will have a positive impact on other road users, where delays caused by congestion will diminish, which has positive implications for the economy. The Red Routes scheme throughout the West Midlands has assisted with the efficient flow of goods by ensuring traffic cannot stop along busy corridors, therefore minimizing congestion. However, other measures, such as ensuring the maintenance of the road network and educating drivers will also help in achieving the shared priorities of reducing congestion, improving road safety and producing better air quality.
