Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) offers support and guidance to help organisations be ‘volunteer-ready’. Staff can work with voluntary organisations to attract and retain new helpers for example, and ensure that volunteers have a safe, productive and beneficial experience.

Applying for the King's Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS)

Every day, millions of people across the UK are making a difference by volunteering.

Each year, outstanding examples of this work are celebrated through the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS). Equivalent to an MBE, KAVS is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and they are awarded for life.

The award is for exceptional groups of volunteers who are making a positive impact in their community and benefiting others through their work.

The deadline for 2025 King's Award applications is 1 December 2024.
