Extra support for people with a learning disability or autism
Local Supported Employment Initiative
Sandwell Council are helping people with a learning disability or autism to get a job through the Local Supported Employment Initiative.
The initiative is grant funded by the Department for Work and Pensions.
The features and benefits of the initiative include:
- Support from a specialist employment adviser, who will agree work related goals with you
- Benefits checks to make sure you are better off working
- Employers will be contacted on your behalf to talk to them about job opportunities
- Job coach support in the workplace
- In-work support to help you sustain your job and develop your career
You can apply for this support if you:
- Want a paid job
- Have a learning disability, autism or both
- Live in Sandwell
- Are aged 18+
- Are not on any other employment support programmes
- Understand the benefit of participating in the initiative to find and sustain paid work
- Are known to Adult Social Care or known to Sandwell Council with the same level of support as someone known to Adult Social Care
- Happy to complete an eligibility check which will be sent to Jobcentre Plus
