The theme for this year’s campaign is “Orange the world: UNiTE to end violence against women and girls".
A number of organisations and communities in Sandwell will come together to raise awareness of the reality of domestic abuse and call for positive change to increase both women's and men's safety.
The local campaign involves working with partners to highlight the different types of abuse such as domestic abuse; sexual violence; forced marriage; so-called "honour-based" abuse; female genital mutilation; coercive control; and stalking and harassment.
Councillor Suzanne Hartwell, Sandwell Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Community, said: “Domestic abuse can be terrifying for those who experience it and many victims are often left feeling helpless. We hope that this campaign will encourage people to talk about the issue and its impact on families and will encourage victims to come forward for help and support.”
