Sandwell Audit Services provides the internal audit service, along with offering assistance and advice on a number of control issues, to the Council and a number of strategic partners, these being:
- West Midlands Fire Service
- Sandwell Homes
- Sandwell Leisure Trust
It plays a key role in providing assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control across all areas.
It is also responsible for carrying out special investigations into cases of potential fraudulent activity and irregularities.
Following a recent Best Value Performance Assessment the section was scored as 'good'. It has also been accredited under the new quality standard, BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
