Why are changes being made?
The changes proposed follow guidance issued by the Government on how waste and recycling should be collected.
The council is required to comply with new and emerging legislation. If we do not make the necessary changes the council could be liable for significantly increased costs when new legislation is introduced.
The council needs to save £43.8m over the next five years. This service change will support the savings the council has to make.
Savings will be made by reducing the frequency and method of collections, reducing contamination, and improving the value of our recyclable materials.
