4 week notice termination FAQs
How can I notify you? Log onto MySandwell and complete the termination of tenancy form. Before you do this, please read the following information.
When can I notify you? As soon as you are ready to give 4 weeks' notice to end your tenancy.
Are there conditions I need to follow? Yes, you are required to:
- Provide us with a forwarding address
- Leave the property clean, empty and undamaged (you will be recharged for the disposal or storage of items left in the property or any deliberate damage)
- Provide us with the location of any meters and meter readings
Who can notify you? Only the tenant or a representative with evidence they have power of attorney can terminate the tenancy.
Can the 4 weeks' notice be waivered? If you require your notice to be reduced or waivered, you will need to submit a request in writing. This will be reviewed, and you will be informed of our decision.
Can I withdraw my notice? No, once you have given notice to terminate your tenancy it cannot be reinstated and will end on the termination date. If you are unable to move out on the agreed date or you have changed your mind you must contact us immediately, so the best course of action can be decided.
When should I return my keys? You can return your keys to the property any time during the 4 weeks' notice period subject to the property being empty and fully vacated. All keys and vacant possession of the property must be received no later than 12pm on the day of the termination date, failure to do so may result in further charges.
Following receipt of your 4 weeks' notice an officer will contact you to discuss how you should return the keys.
